The Geopfade trails in the volcanic region around Lake Laach combine fascinating geological insights with culturally and historically significant monuments and stunning natural beauty. Along the trails, visitors can discover volcanic formations, rare rocks, and traces of Earth’s history, as well as historic buildings and artifacts from times past. This makes every hike a fascinating journey through nature, history, and the region’s unique landscape.

Since September 2018, the Geo-Route R themed hiking trail has been available in and around the Eifel village of Rieden, offering a wide range of interesting things for hiking, nature and volcano/geology enthusiasts. The approx. 23 km long overall tour can also be hiked in individual sections and other extra tours complement the signposted route, which is equipped with information boards.

Circular hike starting at the Königsfeld community center, approx. 9 km, marked: "Geo-V". Hike along idyllic field paths with wonderful views and numerous ceramic sculptures.
Artistic ceramic sculptures such as steles, seating groups and fountains as well as historic basalt lava crosses from different eras accompany the hiker across colorful fields with magnificent views.
Through an enchanting, hilly Eifel landscape, past witnesses of former forest use, along re-established juniper heaths with their typical flora and fauna to the charcoal pile and racing kiln.
