Description

Varied cycle tour: fruit blossoms on the slopes, a quiet ride along the banks of the Rhine and wide views from the hill.

The backdrop of the Neuwied Basin characterizes the entire tour - all in white during the cherry blossom season!

The cultivation of elderberries is something very special here. Contrasts make the tour so attractive - the Rhine valley and the hills of the Eifel, intensive farming and peaceful orchards.

The highlight is the view between Ketting and Saffig of the volcanoes of the Eifel and the Rhine Valley as far as the Westerwald on the opposite side. Not to be forgotten is the idyllic scenery along the river Nette, which gives the route its name and flows into the Rhine at Weißenthurm.

The last few kilometers of the cycle route run directly along the Rhine, accompanied only by the rustling of the poplars and willows.

The small loop from Mülheim-Kärlich runs after the Roman villa (6.0 km, 40 m elevation gain) through the middle of the orchards. Another loop leads uphill along a beautiful path to Bassenheim (9.0 km, 160 m elevation gain).

The route is mostly on dedicated cycle paths and farm tracks, partly on local roads, uphill towards the Eifel.
