Nostalgia Railway Festival on Corpus Christi WeekendThe 125th anniversary will be celebrated by the Brohltalbahn from June 4 to 7, 2026, with a large nostalgia railway festival featuring a vintage car festival. Numerous trains will be in operation between Brohl-Lützing on the Rhine and Kempenich-Engeln on the Eifelhochfläche – sometimes pulled by steam locomotives, sometimes by historic diesel locomotives! A special feature will also be the use of freight trains, which will give an impression of the once extensive freight traffic in the Brohltal.

Guest Locomotive “Rur”
A highlight in the schedule is undoubtedly the deployment of the guest locomotive “Rur” from the Selfkantbahn. The box-type steam locomotive, originally used by the Düren tramway, will actively support the Brohltal locomotives and can be experienced both on the Brohler Hafenbahn and between Brohl and
Oberzissen. Of course, the mighty Brohltal Mallet steam locomotive Brohl-Lützing, May 10, 2026
11 a.m. will be in steam every day and will operate alongside the distinctive green/beige diesel locomotives for the majority of the extensive journey offerings.

Large Vehicle Parade
All deployed vehicles will be presented on Saturday evening (June 6) starting at 7 p.m. during a large vehicle parade in the Brohler Rheinanlagen. Not far from the station of the same name on the harbor railway, the vehicles will be introduced and explained individually. The unique backdrop by the Rhine,
with the Rheinbrohler Ley in the background, promises beautiful photo opportunities in the evening light!

Classic Car Festival with Mail Exchange and Historical Bus Line
On the weekend of June 6/7, the historic train service will be expanded with a large classic car festival. Nostalgic road vehicles will be displayed for viewing at several stations along the route. Whether fire engines in Niederzissen, a mobile post office, and
agricultural machinery in Burgbrohl, or historic buses in Bad Tönisstein, there is much to discover! A mail exchange with the trains arriving in Burgbrohl will also be regularly reenacted. In Brohl, over 100-year-old tin toy trains in
gauge 0 and 1 are worth a visit.
Visitors to the buses will not only be able to view them but also “experience” them, as riding is explicitly encouraged! The buses will run at 30-minute intervals, alternating routes connecting Brohl, Bad Tönisstein, and Burgbrohl. Approximately every two hours, the journey will even
continue through Niederzissen to Engel. There, every arriving train connects with the bus along the former rail line to Weibern up to Kempenich. This line is intended to remind of the bus service of the Brohltalbahn that existed until 1995.

All detailed information such as timetables, prices, and accompanying programs are now available on the Brohltalbahn website. Railroad enthusiasts should also mark their calendars for the grand anniversary railway festival on October 3/4, 2026, with hourly train rides and events at all
stations!
