Moonlight hike - what's shining in the starry sky? Participants hike along meadows and forests around the Rodder Maar, experience nature by moonlight and learn a lot about the moon and other celestial objects.

The “Night Owls” meet in Niederdürenbach for the moonlight hike. From there, the group walks through forests, meadows, and fields—partly along the route of the “Eifelleiter” premium hiking trail—and experiences the magic of a (nearly) full-moon night.

Along the way, the trail offers beautiful views time and again, such as of the Brohl Valley illuminated at night, the Rodder Maar, and the ruins of Olbrück Castle.

During the hike, tour guide Jutta Dietz shares interesting and informative facts about the moon and other celestial bodies, as well as about the region.

After about 2 hours, the hiking group returns to the parking lot.

The hike is suitable for adults as well as children ages 10 and up. The trail is not suitable for strollers. Participants should wear sturdy shoes. Flashlights or headlamps will only be used in an emergency.

Dates: March 1, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. and

October 25, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.

Participants must be 10 years of age or older.
