Invitation to the Opening of the Exhibition “The Victims of the 1938 Pogrom: Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland” On Sunday, November 8, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Former Synagogue in Niederzissen, Mittelstraße, Niederzissen
The traveling exhibition *The Victims of the 1938 Pogrom in Rhineland-Palatinate* , organized by the Rhineland-Palatinate State Agency for Civic Education, is based on a comprehensive study that, for the first time, investigated the question of
how many people lost their lives in connection with the November pogroms of 1938 in the territory of present-day Rhineland-Palatinate and the Saarland.
The exhibition, curated by Carolin Manns, focuses on the biographies of Jewish men and women who died in the weeks and months following the pogroms. The more than 70 identified victims died as a result of abuse, were murdered, were deported to concentration camps, or took their own lives out of a sense of hopelessness and despair.
Ms. Manns will personally introduce the exhibition.
The exhibition will be on view at the Former Synagogue in Niederzissen from November 8, 2026, through December 6, 2026.
The synagogue is open Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
We are happy to offer special guided tours for groups.
