Route "Um den Laacher See - ab Weibern"
Weibern
The starting point of our tour is the tuff hiking parking lot in Weibern at the entrance to the town coming from the A61/B 412.
! This description is a supplement to the GPS track. It alone is not sufficient to find the route. !
At the Sonnenstudio, we turn left into Löhstraße and follow the farm road that begins in the extension up to its end at the Weibern/Rieden wind farm. We turn left onto the gravel road and climb the "Hohe Ley". After the last wind turbine, we enjoy the view and keep to the right. Passing the edge of the forest without losing much height, we ride to the "Stumpig Kreuz". Here we have to cross the district road in a bend. On the other side of the road, the path leads us through a short, damp section of forest onto a farm track whose bridge crosses the B412, allowing a rapid descent into the Wehrer Kessel shortly afterwards. At the bottom, before the Annakapelle chapel, we turn right at an acute angle, cross under the A61 and follow the tarred path directly behind the underpass to the edge of the forest at Laacher Kopf. Turn left and continue along the edge of the forest for 1.5 km on a well-maintained path. Here we have a 200° panoramic view from the Siebengebirge (near Bonn) in the north to the Kühkopf (near Koblenz) in the south. In between, the Bausenberg, Olbrück Castle, the ribbon of the A61, the Brohltal-Ost industrial estate, the Weibern-Rieden wind farm and the Gänsehalsturm. At the end of the forest edge path, we bypass a barrier and enter the forest on a somewhat bumpy forest path. We follow this path until we reach the country road. We take this road briefly uphill, then over the crest downhill and in the following right-hand bend we turn left, bypass another barrier and come to a well-surfaced forest path that leads us to the Hotel Waldfrieden (refreshment stop) on the Lxy. We use this country road (not the parallel singletrail) to reach the hikers' parking lot on the Höhenweg in a pleasant way. We follow this high trail around the lake. When we come out of the forest again on the other side of the lake, a paved path leads through the orchards to the country road. We follow this road briefly and turn left onto the district road towards Bell. At the end of the walls of Maria Laach Abbey, we follow the signs to the St. Winfried animal museum (well worth a visit). From there, we follow the cycle path signs along tarred roads to the Eifel village of
Bell. We pass under the A61. In Bell, we turn right up the tarred road to the Gänsehals (gradient of up to 16%). At this point, e-bikes should still have at least 30% of their battery charge available. Not all the way to the top (unless you want to climb the tower to the viewing platform - worth it!). Before the final ascent, turn left off the tarred road onto a dirt track (perhaps this will be paved a little better in the near future). Descent in the direction of Rieden - first a field and forest path, then a tarred farm track. As far as the district road. Cross this to follow the tarmac farm track to the Rieden / Weibern wind farm. At the top, we turn left, then right and take the paved descent to reach Kirchstraße in Weibern. We cycle back to the starting point through the village streets. At the end of the tour you can visit the local museum. The local museum (stonemason's station) and the Catholic parish church are well worth a visit. The local gastronomy also invites you to take a break. The local gastronomy invites you to rest and stop for a bite to eat.
