Brohl-Lützing
Steep stretch steam for the wine festival
What has previously only been experienced during special trips for railway enthusiasts can be enjoyed by everyone on October 4 & 5: With much noise, the impressive steam locomotive will operate the scheduled "Vulkan-Expreß" at full steam over the steep stretch to the final station Engeln! The rides promise to be an experience for all the senses on this steepest German narrow-gauge railway without cogwheel drive!
The departure of the additional steam trains is at Brohl at 12:15 PM and 4:15 PM, and the journey lasts about 90 minutes. Additionally, the regular diesel trains will operate at 10:15 AM and 2:15 PM, allowing guests to travel to Brohltal and the wine festival every two hours.
The occasion for the additional trips is the cozy little wine festival at the old school in Oberzissen, organized with great commitment by the local heritage association. This promises to be a thoroughly successful outing to the volcanic Eastern Eifel – the Brohltalbahn recommends that after the steam train ride to Engeln, visitors hike down on the well-marked trails "QB-Weg" or "Osteifelweg" to the wine festival, and from there return with the last train at 6:55 PM back to Brohl after a few enjoyable hours.
Return trips will be offered from Engeln at 11:50 AM (diesel), 2:30 PM (steam), 4:30 PM (diesel), and 6:30 PM (steam), with the trains stopping in Oberzissen 25 minutes later respectively.
