Römerbergwerk Meurin Kretz - Tagesticket
from 7.00 € Jetzt anfragen
The Meurin Roman mine is an original tuff quarry where tuff was mined underground almost 2,000 years ago. The removal of a meter-high layer of pumice in the last century brought the tunnel system to light - today you can even get a bird's eye view of it from a footbridge above. A tour leads visitors through the mine via wooden ramps before heading outside into the ancient world of technology. Here, the amazing technical achievements from Roman times and the Middle Ages can be experienced up close at over ten different stations and workshops. From a large lifting crane to a column lathe and a marble saw - everything here revolves around the processing of the lightweight building stone tuff in bygone eras.
Open guided tours (from 05.04.2026 up to and including 25.10.2026)
From Easter to October, open tours of the Ancient World of Technology take place every Sunday, every public holiday and, during the Rhineland-Palatinate school vacations, every Wednesday between 11 am and 4 pm. Selected stations can then be tried out for yourself under the guidance of the tour guide. Participation is possible without prior registration and is included in the admission price. Visitors can simply join the guided tour if they are interested. (Note: As the Antike Technikwelt is not covered, the open tour may be canceled in extreme weather conditions (heavy rain, storm, heat, etc.). Visitors are requested to call in advance to find out about the current status).
