Vortrag: Bilderreise mit Laachus durch die Vulkanregion Laacher See
Mar 19, 2026
Niederzissen
The actual built monastery area covers nearly 2 hectares. The Benedictine Abbey of Maria Laach clearly distinguishes between public areas for tourists and private rooms for the monks. Open to the public are the daily opened Romanesque basilica, the monastery forum, the book and art shop, the garden center with the monastery store, and the gastronomy. The cloister area, the cloister, where the monks live, pray, and work, is not publicly accessible.
During guided tours starting from the monastery forum, which last about an hour, visitors also get to know part of the non-public area.
This entertaining multimedia presentation takes visitors through the entire monastery grounds in words and images, providing detailed information about interesting facts and important events from the inception of the abbey to the present day.
Our regional guide Walter Müller will start his presentation on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 6 PM in the coat of arms hall of the town hall of the VG in Niederzissen. With a relaxing break, this free presentation lasts about two hours.
