May 5, 2026 - Nov 1, 2026

Brohl-Lützing

On the nearly 18 km long narrow-gauge line from Brohl on the Rhine to Engeln in the Eifel, our train crosses several high viaducts and passes through a nearly 100-meter-long tunnel. Almost 400 meters of altitude are overcome! On most days, our trains are pulled by green/beige painted diesel locomotives. Experience how our locomotives must fully deploy their power on the steep section between Oberzissen and Engeln to bring the train to its destination on time! On select days, we regularly deploy our historic steam locomotive "11sm".

Timetable:

from Brohl/Rhein
10:15 AM and 2:15 PM
11:40 AM or 3:40 PM arrival at Engeln

from Engeln
11:50 AM or 4:30 PM
1:00 PM or 5:40 PM arrival at Brohl/Rhein

Boarding and alighting possible at every stop.

Steam locomotive on viaduct, © Walter Brück

Fahrt mit dem Vulkan-Expreß
Apr 5, 2026 - May 1, 2026

A trip with the Brohltalbahn is more than just a train ride. It is pure everyday deceleration, a true experience of technology and nature. It brings the volcanic region of Laacher See with its unique volcanic landscape to life and gives a sense of the "effort" it takes the locomotives to overcome around 400 meters in altitude between the Rhine and Eifel. Step on board and experience a unique narrow-gauge railway in the attractive landscape of the Eastern Eifel!
