At Bausenberg, the horseshoe crater is ridden at altitude. Caution is advised on the descent. The Vinxtbachtal valley is crossed and shortly before Niederlützingen the panoramic view from the Steinbergskopf is worth more than one break. After Tönissteiner Sprudel, the original Pöntertal valley is crossed up to the heights before continuing on the crater of the Laacher See volcano. Another stop is recommended at the Probstei in Buchholz, which dates back to the 12th century.

The loops are best ridden in a clockwise direction. - Altitude difference: 975 m

All loops can be shortened or lengthened by linking up with neighboring loops.

The loops are mostly on dirt tracks, some of which are asphalted. Only very few footpaths and stretches on foot.
