Naturschutzgebiet "Thürer Wiesen"

Thür

The "Thürer Wiesen" nature reserve is located southeast of the municipality of Thür.

The 31 km long Vulkanpark cycle path leads through this unique nature reserve from Andernach to Mayen.
"Thur" - located on the water - this name becomes obvious here.
A sign at the parking lot on the L 120 indicates that you are in a nature reserve. A bridge over the Thürer Bach leads to the ponds separated by a path.
An information board on a small viewing platform provides detailed information about the flora and fauna of the Thuringian meadows.

When you stand on this platform, you can hardly imagine that this area should be drained and was almost drained. A well-developed path has been leading through the meadows since 1976, which is now part of the Mayen - Andernach cycle path and also includes the Way of St. James.

The Thürer Meadows are well received by the population in a wide area as a local recreation area.
The meadows are a welcome resting area for many bird species, both when migrating to the breeding and wintering areas.
