Springing from a small source

The wild and romantic Wolfsschlucht invites you to take a trip. The Tönissteiner Bach, which rises shortly after the village of Wassenach, first passes idyllically situated trout ponds, only to plunge several meters straight behind it and then meander wildly to find its way through volcanic ash to the Brohlbach.

Erlenbrunnen

The Erlenbrunnen (also called "Erlebuhr", "Saurebuhr" or "Eedel" (after a nearby quarry)) is located between Bell and Mendig and was built in 1809. It is on the route of the "Traumpfad - Four Mountains Tour".

Parkplatz Erntekreuz

Start of the 280 km long "German Volcano Road", which leads to the 39 highlights in the world of the Eifel volcanoes. Hard to imagine what happened here almost 13,000 years ago. In the gently rolling landscape, the roof of a volcanic focus that had formed underground suddenly bursts open. A massive explosion shakes the area, caused by the underground contact of hot gases and groundwater. The volcano throws out huge amounts of ash and pumice.
